AFS Consultants provide trainer for IMO appointment in Morocco.

IMO  Resolution MSC.300(87), adopted on 17 May 2010, brought into force changes to the Gibraltar Strait mandatory reporting system (GIBREP).  From 1 December 2010, east bound vessels entering the Mediterranean must report to “Tangier Traffic”, a new Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) Centre situated at Tangier.

So as to have the staff of the VTS Authority in Morocco appropriately trained to perform the tasks required by chapter V, regulation 12 of the SOLAS Convention, IMO recently provided technical assistance to train the operators and supervisors of the “Tangier Traffic” Centre.  One of our Consultants under took the appointment and as a result a total of 21 operators and supervisors were trained to the international standards set by International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA), using the IALA Model Courses.
